How Executive Information Systems Work

Executive Information Systems fall under the Management Information System. EIS is used to support and facilitate the decision making and information management of the senior executives through easy access of external and internal information essential to meet the strategic goals of company or organization. The Executive Information System is also considered as the specialized type of Decision Support System.

Typically, the EIS was developed as a mainframe computer which was based on programs. The objective of this was to wrap up all the important data of the company in order to offer research statistics of the market or the sales performance analysis for the decision makers. This was made to expand computer applications that would emphasize information in order to meet the needs of the senior executives.
