Difference between ITIL and ISO 15288 – Let’s look at each in turn to understand the difference between ITIL and ISO 15288.

Difference between ITIL and ISO 15288 – first ISO 15288 The framework covers the life cycle of man-made systems, created and utilized for the benefit of man.

This life cycle spans the conception of ideas through to the retirement of a system.

It provides the processes for acquiring and supplying system products and services that are configured from one or more of the following types of system component: hardware, software and humans.

In addition, this framework provides for the assessment and improvement of the life cycle.

Difference between ITIL and ISO 15288 – ITIL ITIL (the IT Infrastructure Library) is essentially a series of documents that are used to aid the implementation of a framework for IT Service Management.

This customizable framework defines how Service Management is applied within an organization.

ITIL is organized into a series of sets, which themselves are divided into two main areas: service support and service delivery.

Service Support is the practice of those disciplines that enable IT Services to be provided effectively.

Service Delivery covers the management of the IT services themselves.

Difference between ITIL and ISO 15288 – difference? ISO 15288 focuses on system lifecycle whereas ITIL is about aligning services to the business need.

We must look at the definition of a service = One or more IT systems which enable a business process.

All systems together from an end to end perspective make up a service! There is no reason why each framework cannot coexist as they have a different focus.
