ITIL Training San Francisco : This study guide is exactly what it says it is a study guide. You can pass the Foundation exam just by studying this book alone. The exam obviously has questions that ensure one has studied the curriculum materials. I read the book once with the intent of truly trying to understand the content the philosophy and identifying areas of potential focus on an exam. There’s very little you should actually try to memorize. Your goal should be to strongly comprehend the content and structure of ITIL. I then read supplemental material available elsewhere on the web and even took a few readily available practice exams to test my understanding. (If you repeatedly see the same general question or focus item from different sources it’s a good bet that you’ll see it on the real exam.) The study guide was then read again as a review and to focus on areas which seemed more difficult or confusing while taking the practice exams. I did pass the exam easily using this study guide as a primary resource. There were maybe 5 or 6 questions which I had difficultly answering but by using the study guide to understand both content and underlying philosophy one can postulate a best answer. My background is a Director of IT and I have multiple technical certifications by means of experience and self-study. This study guide was as good or better than a large majority of study/reference guides used in the past. In summary if your goal is to just pass the exam this is an excellent primary resource. I do recommend supplemental resources for others may cover the same material from a slightly different tact which only betters your understanding. If your goal is to gain a foundational knowledge of ITIL this again is an excellent primary resource that can be continually used as a reference guide. Goal achieved: I am a better leader having used this study guide.
