Recent Changes in CCNP Cert

If one is a CCNP of Cisco Certified Network Professional, then he has proven his ability to manage a medium-sized network having at least 100 to 500 connected devices. Having CCNP also proves one to know the theories and practical applications of network technologies like Qos, VPNs, broadband, and other security-minded features.

But having CCNP cert is not that easy. To have this, one must have first a Cisco Certified Network Associate or CCNA certification. Not only that, he still has three or four difficult tests to pass. CCNP cert also costs an expensive amount of $500 per exam. But despite this difficulty and high cost is the easiness of job hunting when one got CCNP cert since there is a high demand for CCNP cert individuals.

With the increasing demand for CCNP cert, Cisco has revised some of its certification exams last 2003. The purpose of the revision is to provide more competitive CCNP certified individuals so that employers will surely get satisfied.

For BCMSN, Cisco added exam for Wireless LAN, high availability features, and basic Qos. Security for switches exam was also enhanced and exam for troubleshooting is added. For BSCI, Multicast routing and security authentication was added. Meanwhile, Building Cisco Remote Access Networks or BCRAN became ISCW v1.0 or the Implementing Secure and Converged WANs. Also, the Cisco Internetwork Troubleshooting or CIT became ONT v1.0 or Optimized Converged Cisco Networks.

With these changes in CCNP cert, employers will surely be satisfied with their newly hire CCNP certified individuals. These changes also increased the reputation of Cisco as the most difficult and trustworthy information technology professional examination.
