It is already given that Black Belts are required to focus on the project and ensure 100% participation on every project detail. This may come as a pressure to some as managing a whole project may be quite intimidating at the same time challenging since Black Belts will have to work with different people with different areas of expertise. It is his goal to see to it that everyone is synchronized with project goals and objectives. If this is too much for you to handle, then you may want to settle for the Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
Six Sigma Green Belt aspirants will undergo almost the same training as Black Belt candidates, with much emphasis on the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) model. For Green Belt certified professionals, there are two primary tasks that they can perform. First is to assist Black Belts in ensuring the successful deployment of Six Sigma techniques on each level of the organization, and second is to handle small-scale projects as directed by the senior leadership. Green Belts will spend most of their time in gathering statistical data in support to projects headed by Black Belts.
Indeed, a Green Belt certification can be used on any type of service or product as passing the exam simply means that you have displayed thorough knowledge of the principles behind Six Sigma. Though it may not be as highly compensated compared to Black Belts, working your way with the different duties and responsibilities of Six Sigma Green Belts will prepare you in taking higher roles in the near future. Who knows? You might even replace your current boss. A clever idea isnt it?
