The Different MCTS Certifications

Those who are dreaming to leap forward the Microsoft Professional Level, the MCTS or Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) is the first step for that. MCTS provide chance for individuals to target certain technologies where they outstand well. So far, there are at least 20 MCTS certifications to choose from. The MCTS certifications are grouped into five categories: the Office Specializations, SQL Server Specializations, .NET Framework Specializations, Windows Specializations, and Business Intelligence Specializations.

For Office Specializations, the MCTS certifications available are Managing Projects with Microsoft Office Project 2007, Enterprise Project Management with Microsoft Office Project 2007, Forefront Client and Server Configuration, Office SharePoint Server 2007 Configuration, and Office SharePoint Server 2007 Application Development. For the Business Intelligence Specializations, the MCTS certifications are the BizTalk Server 2006, Live Communications Server 2005, and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Configuration.

Lastly, for the Windows Specializations, some of the MCTS certifications available are the Windows Mobile 5.0 Applications, Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Applications Development, Windows Vista Configuration, Windows Server 2008 Active Directory Configuration, and a lot more.

These MCTS certifications are needed before a prospect Microsoft professional can take the MCITP examinations. All the MCITP examinations are requiring examinees to pass the MCTS counterparts. Therefore, furthering the career to a professional level is only possible by passing the MCTS certification first. There is no need to worry about this since MCTS certifications are said to be easier than the professional level.
