The Importance of Taking the Latest MCITP SQL Server 2008 Module

There are two certification paths for MCITP Database Administrator.  The first one is the MCITP DA which supports skills on SQL Server 2005.  The other one is the MCITP Database Administrator 2008 supporting the latest deployment of Microsoft’s SQL Server 2008.

Some database administrators prefer to take the MCITP SQL Server 2005-focused exam.  This means they will have to take the MCITP module on Database Administrator.  That’s because majority of enterprise databases are still running on SQL Server 2005.  By taking the MCITP SQL Server 2005 path, they can find lots of companies that will need their specific area of expertise.

Microsoft however has a standing practice of retiring some of its certification modules.  This will happen if ever the giant software company stop developing support services for a particular product.  The introduction of SQL Server 2008 in the market could mean eventual retirement for the SQL Server 2005 MCITP module.  So, it would be wise to take the MCITP Database Administrator 2008 in order to get ahead of other IT professionals.

By taking the MCITP module supporting the SQL Server 2008, IT professionals can ensure that their credentials are up to date.  This means their services will be needed by companies deploying the latest Microsoft enterprise database application.  A credential for the new SQL Server will further enhance and highlight the technical expertise of IT professionals on new database administration.  Such credential means more lucrative job opportunities and higher pay scale.  Taking the MCITP Database Administrator 2008 module would be a very good investment for IT professionals.
