In 2007, Cisco Press, which is the leading promoter of CCNP® (Cisco Certified Network Professional) certification, announced new training resource materials that support its newly developed CCNP certification exams. These training materials include new books and electronic exam preparation products.
In addition, the Cisco Systems had also developed new exams that are aligned with Cisco s usual products, which are Building Converged Cisco Mulitlayer Switched Networks (BCMSN 642-812); Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks (BSCI 642-901); Optimized Converged Cisco Networks (ONT 642-845); and Implementing Secure Converged WANs (ISCW 642-825).
The modifications done were basically on the applications installed on network frameworks (e.g., security and voice, wireless). An example of such modifications is the new Integrated Services Routers (ISRs), which is an expanded coverage of Cisco s fundamental routing and switching track. ISRs will specifically provide voice, data, video, and wireless services. Consequently, both written and lab exams were upgraded to accommodate essential relevant applications, skills, tasks, and integrated services in using the ISRs.
Security factor has also been a consideration for the changes made in the curriculums. This concern is particularly covered in the new ISCW 642-825 exam. Newly topics included are VPNs, protecting Cisco IOS from unforeseen threats, and strengthening Cisco devices.
Moreover, the previous BCRAN exam has been included in both BCMSN 642-812 and ONT 642-845 exams, whereas the old CIT exam is incorporated in all the four updated exams.
Modified exams and newly developed training resource materials are readily made available via online or through all local authorized testing and resource centers. Updating efforts were made to simply provide CCNP takers with superior training course preparations to further success in all their exams.
