The British government instructed the CCTA (Central Computer and Communication Agency) to develop an approach that will be dedicated to efficient and cost effective resources in the IT industry. This was the time when ITIL® came into existence. This was considered as a framework for IT services. Today CCTA is known as ITIL® OGC (Office of Government of Commerce).
