CCNA is an acronym indicating Cisco Certified Network Associate, which refers to the people who are knowledgeable about networking basics. They are the certified professionals who can configure, install, and operate Local Area Network and WAN. The knowledge of CCNA professionals applies to the dialing access service for small networking needs. Such professionals understand the use of IGRP, IP, Frame Relay, Serial, VLANs, IP RIP, RIP, Access Lists and Ethernet protocols in systems.

A CNNA student who has completed a CCNA course is entitled to get CCNA certification. Up to four courses in CCNA subjects is required which is equivalent to 280 instructing hours. These are available at universities and colleges, which may set aside an average of one year for every course required.

Learning how to build, maintain and design networks that can adapt to the needs of global organizations is included in the training provided through a CCNA course. Teaching the students to be accustomed to actual networking is the main purpose of CCNA courses.

Being dependent on a web server, online CCNA courses are very convenient for students who want to take up a CCNA course. Students can view the curriculum from a classroom LAN, and can access the program of study during and outside classroom time. The curriculum is also copyrighted, and gives access only to students who are enrolled within the program.

An instructor-led CCNA course, however, is designed to complement the need of a student who wants to master and excel more on topics he likes. Such students have the opportunity to use classroom equipment first hand.

Both types of CCNA courses are provided with instructors who are knowledgeable and experienced at meeting the needs of the students.
