SQL servers are very dependable when it comes to providing storage for large data volume for a company. They are also great tools for creating easy business processes for routine jobs that are related to database management. And since they are working big time all day long for your organization, it is just but right that you also devise a SQL server maintenance plan. This would help the SQL server administrator in maintaining a working server for the organization. As they say it is better that you are prepared when some uncertainties happen rather than being caught off guard.

When devising an SQL server maintenance plan, you should not only think of those stuffs that would keep your server work better but you should also include measures on creating back ups for your server. These backups are important so that you can retrieve data should a problem occur leaving you with a wiped out data. It is also important that you have back ups for your transaction logs since these would help you trace the incidents that trigger the problem. This plan should also include the routine computing of your data statistics so that you would be able to manage the indexes and other data storage concerns.

One thing that can also help you devise the best SQL server maintenance plan is using the wizard in the Enterprise Manager. This will help you to easily create and implement the plan so that you can always have a very dependable SQL server for the organization.

The SQL Server 2000 Enterprise class edition is part of the entire SQL 2000 line which includes Personal and Standard editions, Developer class, and Desktop Engine editions.  The SQL 2000 Enterprise would be most useful as a complete database management solution of companies in order to rationalize their use of information assets.

The SQL Server 2000 edition has long been upgraded but it could still be useful for companies that have limited computing environment.  The advantage of SQL Server 2000 Enterprise is it can be installed on a system with lower computing power and does not need much RAM in order to become functional.

Specifically, the SQL Server 2000 can work on any Intel platform or similar machines.  Processor speed of the system need not be too great as the SQL Server 2000 can run on a CPU with 166 megahertz clock.  RAM requirements are also not too demanding because it will run fully on computers with 128 MB of RAM.  For desktop engines SQL editions, the application will work even on systems have 32 MB of RAM.

The SQL Server 2000 Enterprise class can also work optimally on NT platforms specifically on Windows NT Server, and Windows 2000 Server.  Upgrading the SQL Server 2000 to newer versions however may also require an upgrade on other engines of the system.

The SQL Server 2000 Enterprise class has features that could enhance the productivity of enterprise database.  Specifically, it can perform partitioned distributed view of data, log shipping, and index generation with general failover tools for database security.
