HRM or Human Resource Management is the strategic approach adopted by an organization in its search to acquire the most valuable assets known to man  which are simply called Human Resources. This refers to those workers who contribute to the success and accomplishments of any business. Formerly called Personnel Management, HR or HRM (meaning Human Resources and Human Resources Management respectively) describe the process of managing workers who are in an organization. Human Resource Management continuous to develop and progress rapidly nowadays. Other than being a business practice, Human Resource Management also is an academic theory that addresses practical techniques and theories of a workforce management.

Finding out what distinguishes HRM from HRD (or Human Resource Development) is easy. Whereas HRM is a process, HRD is a profession and has a broader variety of activities for helping develop personnel within the organization. Thus, HRD may include training, career development, and organizational development and many other aspects of the discipline.

The HRD and HRM functions have come a long way over the past two to three decades. In the past, large organizations only saw the Personnel Department being made up of people who manage paperwork regarding the payments of employees and about hiring people.

A Human Resources Training Course offered these days to train employees in Human Resource Management may consist of 10 modules.

The first module basically introduces you to HRM while the second module is about Job Analysis. The third module is about recruitment, planning and selection. The fourth module is about assessment methods (that do not include Psychometric Tests.) The fifth module is about Psychometric Testing. The sixth module is about development and training. The seventh module covers performance appraisal. Module eight is inclusive about employee motivation and rewards. The ninth is about Equal Opportunities and HRM ethics while the tenth and last deals with expatriate assignments and global HRM.
