The OECD Principles on Artificial Intelligence, originally adopted in May 2019 as the first intergovernmental AI standard, were updated in May 2024 to address generative AI and foundation models. The five values-based principles cover: inclusive growth and sustainable development; human-centred values and fairness; transparency and explainability; robustness, security, and safety; and accountability. It comprises 14 controls organised across 3 domains, and applies in International (OECD).
