How we decide what counts

The rules every row is judged against, in order. They are why the total is smaller than a raw feed would give you.

A row counts only if a company is raising investment: a named round, a lead investor, or an SEC Form D. An amount alone is not evidence, because rate decisions and price targets carry numbers too.
Rejected on sight: rate rises, analyst price targets, earnings and forecast raises, bond issuance, buybacks, parked domains, bot walls, and rumoured rounds that have not closed.
A figure that matches a stated valuation is not counted as a raise, judged across every source that covered the company, not just one.
SEC Form D amounts are read as the amount SOLD, not the offering size.
One company is one row. Name variants a publisher adds, like a backer prefix, are collapsed before anything is totalled.

What we deliberately did not chart

A chart drawn from thin data looks more certain than the data is.

geography: hq_country is 19% populated and mixes country codes with US state codes, so a map would be a guess drawn confidently.
investors: 26 distinct named leads in 30 days, 628 of them one accelerator.
