UK MoD JSP 936 Dependable AI in Defence Part 1: Directive (V1.1, 2024)

The UK Ministry of Defence directive for dependable AI: legal advice and the five MOD AI Ethical Principles turned into requirements (human impact assessment, named accountability, stakeholder understanding, bias and harm analysis, reliability, robustness and security), AI ethical risk assessment with approval levels and a duty to halt, RAISO-led governance with annual ethical assurance statements, human/AI teaming through Human Centred Design and training, lifecycle requirements from planning and requirements through data, models, verification, integration and in-service monitoring, quality, safety and Secure by Design, supplier conditions, and proportionate AI assurance including behaviour beyond the operational design domain. It comprises 59 controls organised across 9 domains, and applies in the United Kingdom.
